200-Hour Himalayan Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training
January–April 2027
Classes held at The Heart Center for Awakening and taught under the School of Himalayan Kundalini Yoga, Maha Baba Sri Chand Ashram, based in Punjab, India. Classes led by Shabadrang Bandhana.
The foundation of Kundalini Yoga is the awakening of awareness —
and this can only be taught by first enlivening it within yourself.
In every module of this training, the aim is to strengthen the inner teacher — the inner knower — so your guidance comes from lived experience rather than memorized information.
When you are connected to this inner knower, teaching stops being performative. It becomes an expression of your own presence, and students learn naturally, you teach intuitively, and with ease. By understanding the history of these teachings, the tools and technologies that support awakening, and the deeper purpose behind awareness itself, you develop both the skill and the consciousness needed to teach authentically. This training is designed to deepen your personal practice while preparing you to step confidently into the role of a Kundalini Yoga teacher.
All are welcome, even if you don't plan to become a Kundalini yoga teacher. Our program includes four, 50-hour units. Units may be taken individually or consecutively. Teaching certification will be awarded to students who successfully complete the full 200-hour program.
Our 200-hour Kundalini program is taught in four separate units of 50 hours each.
Classes for all four units are held in-person only at The Heart Center for Awakening. See program details below for class dates, times, prices, unit hour breakdowns, and, if desired, special requirements for certification.

200-hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training
January–April 2027
Unit 1: History, Sadhana, and Lifestyle Foundations (Jan. 9-Feb. 1)
In this training, students explore where yogic wisdom comes from. Understanding the difference between direct transmissions of enlightened masters found in the Vedas and the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, to the teachings recorded by awakened students in texts like the Charaka Samhita and the Upanishads. We also examine how knowledge becomes diluted when filtered through indirect channels such as popular yoga books, blogs, podcasts, and modern commentary. Alongside this, learners are introduced to how the six classical ways knowledge is transmitted and attained and the living history of the Kundalini lineage, including the stories of the Rishis, Yogis, and Gurus.
Students then move into the heart of practice sādhana. You’ll learn its original meaning, its older practices, and how to adapt these practices to modern life while honoring their integrity. There is one key concept missed in almost every training, and it isn’t what you think it is — how these practices benefit both teacher and student. We will include discussion on Ayurvedic cleansing rituals, environmental and clothing habits, the deeper “why” behind daily discipline, and guidance on the most supportive times of day for practice. Finally, we establish lifestyle foundations through the study of the five koshas, the yamas and niyamas, dharma & karma, and the teachings of Baba Sri Chand & Guru Nanak. Together, these elements create a grounded, lineage‑honoring framework for anyone seeking a genuine yogic path. Together, these teachings create a stable, integrated foundation for anyone seeking to deepen their practice or guide others with clarity and integrity.
Unit 2: Meaning of Yoga & Yogic Practices (Feb. 13-Mar. 1)
In this 50‑hour training, students explore the meaning of yoga through its origins, classical definitions, and the ways awareness develops through the five states of consciousness and the three qualities of mind — tamas, rajas, and sattva. You’ll learn how yoga is experienced. This foundation prepares students to understand yogic practice not as exercise, but as a precise technology for awakening the deeper capacities of the human system. The exercises of yoga are beautiful and help aid the practitioners of yoga to live their best life. Many people get into yoga for the physical practice and stay because their quality of life is greatly improved.
From there, the training moves into the core yogic practices themselves. Students study the bandhas, their purpose, their energetic mechanics, and the rishis who developed them. You’ll explore classical mudras, the structure and authenticity of kriya, and a full range of pranayama techniques, along with how to teach them. We explore the three primary forms of meditation and how to prepare space. You’ll also learn how to guide relaxation skillfully, create a supportive environment, and teach intuitively by tuning into yourself, reading the room, and understanding your audience. Together, these elements form a comprehensive foundation for anyone seeking to teach or deepen their yogic path.
Unit 3: Esoteric Anatomy & The Five Tattvas (Mar. 13-Mar. 29)
In this training, students explore the cosmic and esoteric anatomy that underlies authentic Kundalini Yoga. We begin with the creation story — from the primordial stillness to Ong to manifestation — and study how the three doshas, five elements, and twenty‑five tattvas arise as the building blocks of human experience, and the importance of balancing the elements. You’ll learn basics of naad and how vibrational healing works through the sacred sound currents of Gurbani and Sanskrit. Expand and grow as a teacher or student as you experience the foundation of human experience — that our experience as a human being is nothing more and nothing less than the five elements in motion.
This section also includes Yog Agni, different states of consciousness and then this training expands into cosmic anatomy and energetic function, the ten bodies, planetary correspondences within the human system, and the full chakra‑nāḍī architecture. This creates a grounded, full spectrum alignment for anyone seeking to teach or deepen their practice within the Kundalini lineage.
Unit 4: Integrative yogic teachings: Ethics, Modern Science & Ancient Wisdom (Apr. 10-Apr. 26)
In this module, students explore the integration of ten mandalas of the Ṛg Veda to the human body. You’ll learn how each mandala corresponds to an Ayurvedic system and how kriyas support, activate, or purify those systems. This creates a bridge between ancient science and embodied physiology. We then move into the blending of science and esoteric teachings, studying how meditation and breathwork influence the nervous system, the glands, subtle energy, and mental clarity.
Students gain a grounded understanding of how classical yogic technologies interface with modern science and practice. We also establish the ethics of being a student and teacher, including how to develop yourself while positively impacting the world, how to maintain a healthy student‑teacher relationship, and practical ways to protect yourself in both roles. Universal laws of the time are woven in to help students and teachers understand how personal growth aligns with teaching. The module concludes with training in intuitive teaching, cultivating body awareness, sensitivity, and the ability to recognize when a teacher is — or is not — a good fit. Together, these teachings create a stable, integrated foundation for anyone seeking to deepen their practice or guide others with clarity and integrity.
